As XRP, the native token for XRP Ledger (XRPL), signaled bullish sentiment in early July, the altcoin could receive a further boost from Ripple Labs’ regulatory approval in Europe.

On July 6, Ripple announced that it had received the Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). As such, Ripple is fully compliant with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) requirements, which are mandatory to operate across the European bloc.

“This CASP authorization means Ripple enters the post-transitional MiCA era fully compliant and ready to scale,” Cassie Craddock, Managing Director in the UK and Europe at Ripple, noted.

Ripple’s MiCA license will add to the company’s list of over 70 regulatory approvals in different global jurisdictions. Consequently, the MiCA license will play a crucial role in Ripple’s expansion in the region, including enabling XRP Ledger tokenization growth.

How XRP benefits from Ripple’s MiCA license

The XRP ecosystem is well-positioned to benefit from Ripple’s MiCA license, largely due to high institutional demand for tokenizing real-world assets (RWA). Moreover, Ripple’s initiative to build the XRPL has played a crucial role in the XRP Ledger tokenization growth.

At press time, the XRPL had a 30-day RWA transfer volume of about $116.29 million, up over 130% during this period, based on metrics from rwa.xyz. Additionally, the network had a reported 59,000 stablecoin holders.
