In less than a fortnight since its inception, Robinhood Chain has witnessed a substantial increase in tokenized stock transactions, with assets ballooning to around $70 million. This surge, tied to the decentralized finance focus of Robinhood’s blockchain, signals a shift toward larger trades, though speculative tokens and stablecoins still dominate decentralized exchange activities.
What’s driving the increase?
The blockchain’s real-world assets have seen a significant boost. According to DefiLlama, the value of these tokenized assets rose from the low tens of millions to an impressive $70 million shortly after launch. Initially, assets formed a mere 4% of the chain’s activity, with memecoins and stablecoins being much more prevalent.
Record-breaking trading volumes?
Yes, trading has been robust, especially with tokenized stocks. GameStop’s tokenized shares have reached a $26.6 million daily trading volume, while Nvidia and SpaceX stocks have seen $14 million and $6.4 million, respectively. Presently, over twelve tokenized stocks boast more than $500,000 in daily transactions, with five of these surpassing the $1 million threshold.
Data shows that tokenized equities now contribute significantly to trading levels on Robinhood Chain, although memecoins and stablecoins remain the leading asset categories in terms of volume.
Robinhood Chain’s total value locked has escalated to around $312 million, marking a threefold increase since mid-July. Decentralized exchanges on the platform also see high engagement, with daily trading volumes consistently exceeding $600 million, and the network registered over 138 million transactions recently.
- The Robinhood Chain hosts real-world tokenized assets valued at $70 million.
- Total value locked has surged to $312 million.
- Tokenized stocks like GameStop, Nvidia, and SpaceX showcase significant daily trading volumes.
- Decentralized exchange daily volume surpasses $600 million.
- A total of 138 million+ transactions have occurred in the past 30 days.
Despite these gains, speculative tokens such as Hoodrat and Vladhood overshadow the trading volumes of tokenized equities, reflecting the continuing popularity of memecoins on the network.
Investment in technological advancement
Amidst increasing network activity, infrastructure developers are swiftly capitalizing on the growing user base. Memecoin.Fun, a startup dedicated to memecoin projects, recently secured $3.5 million in a funding round led by Becker Ventures. Other backers included BitValue Capital, Mason Labs, and angel investor Billy Wen. The startup aims to deploy the investment toward developing new token launch platforms, cross-chain bridging technology, and a multichain ecosystem centered on memecoins.
The competition is heating up as the protocol, Pons, gears up for a version 2 upgrade featuring an Ether-based bonding curve, integration with Uniswap V4, ETH-based creator payments, and new trading pairs associated with tokenized real-world assets.
Recent figures illustrate that Robinhood Chain had nearly $400 million in locked stablecoins and $431 million in total value locked within weeks of launch. FalconX reported that the chain supports approximately 6 million transactions daily, catering to over 250,000 active users. Studies from Artemis, supported by FalconX, have noted that decentralized exchange volumes reached about $9 billion on the network, at times outperforming platforms like Coinbase’s Base chain, yet memecoin trading continues to account for the majority, with over 80% of DeFi activity tied to speculative trading.
